coloured flowers in the real world

These are two images I created using my coloured flower images and two different images from the internet, which using photoshop and the alt key to multiply the flower in one of the images, I have made my flowers apart of the two images, which I now believe the flowers are the main focus point in both images.

With this idea I wanted to test out more design ideas which I could use for my book cover, by getting images of the real world and placing my flowers within the images to see how it would turn out.

I like the two images because of the way how they both look completely strange, where my flowers don,t look real at all and look like cartooned based drawings, which I find quiet funny, but next time I feel I need to use different sized versions of my flowers in both images.

coloured flower drawings layouts

Here are my coloured flower drawings, where I have tried different ways of laying out my flower drawings on photoshop in preparation for my book covers idea of using flowers, where I wanted to test out different ideas of laying out my drawings to see if I could take this onto one of the book covers. With the images I tried laying out the flowers in different positions and designs on a page and I tried using my flower drawings to make a larger overall shape, like a triangle and circle shape. With the images I tried to make them in the same basic design on the image so the flowers would repeat the patten, but facing in a different direction and in a smaller size. I like the work because the flowers I believe have made good shapes and pattens, but I feel I should of place some of the flowers better in some of the images.

coloured flower drawings

Here are a series of different coloured flowers I have created using the colour filter on Photoshop to add   different colour combinations to my flower drawings, where I scanned in one of my flower drawings onto Photoshop and using the alt button on the keyboard I was able to multiply that single drawing into a series of the same drawing, where I than added two different colour combinations to each one, where for the first series I used mostly lighter toned versions of different colours and for the second series I used a mixture of lighter and darker colour tones. With the coloured flowers I used different combinations to test out different colour design. I like the colours used because I believe most of the colour combinations work well, but there are some, which I believe would need to be changed next time.

Original flower drawing

This is the first flower drawing I did, where I copied the shape of the flower from a bag I saw with the flowers shape on it. With the drawing I drew the flowers in pencil and black pen so the different types of drawings would give the work different tones, where I also tried to draw as many of these flowers as I could on the A4 sheet, I also tried to draw the original shape of the flowers with accuracy. I like the drawing because I believe the flowers have been spread out well across the page and I believe the flowers go well together with the different tones, but I feel I should of maybe of had the flowers overlapping each other more.

Written styles

This is a series of different styles of written I wanted to create, where I wrote different things related to the book cover work I was doing based around a book the language of flowers. With the written styles I used my normal written style, bubble written and highlighting over the letters written to make them more bold.

flower drawings

This is a series of flower drawings I did based around images of flowers from the internet. I did the drawings in pen and some in pencil , where I did a series of the same flower drawing on one page. With the drawings I tried to draw them as accurately as I could, with the different shapes and I also intended to make the outlines strong in all the drawings. I like the drawings because I believe they have been drawn accurately and most of the different shapes and sections of the flowers are clear, but next time I feel I need to add better detail to some of the drawings.

Gagosian gallery visit, the show is over

This is when I went to the Gagosian gallery visit, the show is over exhibition, where I went round and had a look at some of the work and made notes about some of the work. I was interested in the work because of how I found some of it strange because some of the way I could not figure out and it just drew me in.

Victoria Miro museum visit

This was when I went to the Victoria Miro museum and had a look at Idris Khan work, which was on display. I liked the work because I found it interesting how all this work is made by lettering. I also made notes about the work.

British museum African art expedition

THis is where I went to the British museum to see an African art exhibition, where I had a look at the art work on display and took photos of the one's that interested me and I also took notes of some of the art work. I did like a lot of work on display because of the way they show different ways of showing Africa with it's history, animals and people.

Royal Albert museum visit

This is when I went to the Royal Albert museum, where I had a look at some of the art work on display and did some drawings of some of the art work I did not really like the work on display, with the drawing I tried to draw it as accurate as I could. I like the drawing because I believe the overall shape of the figure has been drawn accurately, but next time I felt I had to add more smoke just like in the art work.

book sculpture

This is a book sculpture I made, where I carved away different sections of the pages from the book, which left different shapes and pattens from the book, which can been seen from the side of the book when the book is closed, I also went over some lines of the book with a black pen to remove some of the text, so the story of the book would change and not make sense. I like my work because I believe the pattens from the book, which I removed have come out well and have made a good overall shape from the side of the book, but I feel I should of removed more lined from the story.

the flying penis

For this workshop I was put in a group of three, where I had to help to make some think fly. The decision was to create a flying penis. First there were bits of card, which were cut out in shape of a penis, where using a helium balloon, the balloon was attached to the penis to try and make it lift of the ground when running holding the fishing wirer, which was also attached to the penis. Their was also a smaller more 3D version shown in the first image, which was attached to the balloon, which made it lift of the ground and move around the room. With the bigger version it was taken outside so the wind would help it lift when running with it, which is shown in the second image and the video, which was filmed showing the moment of the balloon where under the winds power. I feel that maybe this should have been done running along the street, so their would be stronger winds because their would not of been any trees in the winds way.

still life workshop two

This is a still life drawing workshop I did, where at first a large group of me and other students got random objects from around the college, where then they were put together as one big random piece, after I had to draw it multiply times using charcoal and different drawing techniques like keeping the charcoal on the paper, not looking at the paper and using my wrong hand to draw with. I like the first drawing, where I had to keep the charcoal on the paper because I believe I drew the box well in the middle of the drawing and it came out better than I expected, but next time I need to have more control on the way I drew some of the lines.

This is another charcoal drawing I did, where I had to go to a section of the college and draw it and try to include shadow in my work too. With this drawing I tried to draw it as accurate as I could. I like the drawing because I believe most of the shapes and lines have been drawn accurately and I also believe the shadows in the drawing are shown well, but next time I need to draw some of the lines more straight because some of them are bent. On the right bottom hand side there is also a enlarged section of the drawing of one of the corners from the drawing.

This is a photo of the section of the college I drew, I should of taken the photo from a better angle.

Other objects with drawings on them

Here are three more objects, where I stuck my drawings on, I used goggles, a tissue roll and a rock.
I choose to use these three objects because I wanted to experiment with different materials instead of plastic. I like these pieces because I feels they also work well with the drawings and my favoured one for me has to goggles because I just find it funny in a way I destroyed it's purpose and gave it a new one in a way, but next I feel again I could of placed the drawings better on the objects.

Transforming the everyday final outcome

Here is my transforming the everyday final outcome, where I have stuck my drawings on different plastic bottles and cups, where for each one I have stuck the drawings on the objects in different pattens and angles, so each one would be different in one way or another. I used black and white along with coloured versions of my drawings to stick on the plastic objects. I like my work because I like the way how I stuck my drawings on the cups and bottles differently, but next time I could stick some of the drawings on the surfaces of the objects better, where their more straightly placed.
